Pre-Course Requirements

The RYA Day Skipper practical course recommends that you complete the RYA Day Skipper Theory course to ensure you have the navigational skills required for the practical.

You must have completed:

  • 5 days of sailing

  • 100 nautical miles

  • 4 night hours on board a sailing yacht.

Our advice is to pick up the RYA Day Skipper Handbook so you are familiar with some of the vocabulary used on yachts.
