Pre-Course Requirements

Student at the helm of our motor boat

The RYA Day Skipper practical course recommends that you complete the RYA Day Skipper Theory course to ensure you have the navigational skills required for the practical.

You must:

  • Have completed 2 days of practical experience on a motor cruiser

  • Be over the age of 16

If you have no practical experience then we recommend that you complete the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course first. Our advice is to pick up the RYA Day Skipper Handbook so you are familiar with some of the vocabulary used on yachts.

*All sailing courses will require that you are in physically good shape.
