Leg 1 - Gran Canaria to Madeira

LEG 1 - ISLAND HOPPING FROM LAS PALMAS TO MADEIRA 14/03/2021 → 20/03/2021

Departing on the 14th March at 14:00, we will be visiting a different Marina every day, leaving enough time to have some rest while in each marina, to get ready for the next day of sailing. We will also do a small stopover in the inhabited Salvagem islands, the Portuguese natural reserve only accessible by boat.

When sailing, we will practise chart work and try not to rely on the GPS system onboard, and especially between Ilhas Selvagem and Madeira, we will get used to the sextant and gain confidence for the Ocean Passage.

The route and miles covered will be:

14/3 LAS PALMAS → 54nm → 15/3 TENERIFE → 65nm→ 16/3 LA GOMERA → 46nm→ 17/3 EL HIERRO → 55nm→ 18/3 LA PALMA → 134nm → 19/3 SALVAGEM ISLANDS →156→ 20/3 MADEIRA

Leg 2 - Madeira to Tangier & Gibraltar

LEG 2 – OCEAN PASSAGE FROM MADEIRA TO TANGIER AND GIBRALTAR 21/03/2021 → 26/03/2021

We will depart Madeira on the 21st of March early in the morning, and sail the 585 nm that will take us to Tangier with the use of the sextant.

Depending on how well it goes, we will stop in Tangier to have a little visit to the old Medina or we will go straight to Gibraltar, which is 35 nm further East, We should arrive in Gibraltar on the evening of the 26th March at the latest.

Leg 3 - Gibraltar to Mallorca

LEG 3 – COASTAL SAILING FROM GIBRALTAR TO PALMA DE MALLORCA 27/03/2021 → 02/04/2021

Leaving Gibraltar in the morning of the 27th March, we will be sailing an average of 70 nm every day, stopping every day (mostly in the afternoons) in the nicest marinas in our way. That will give us a chance to visit some of the local towns and cities and travel in a more relaxed way so we can recover from the Ocean Passage.

The stops might change depending on the weather and how we all feel, but they will be the likes of,

MALAGA (27/03), MOTRIL (28/03), ALMERIA29/03), CARTAGENA (30/03), ALICANTE (31/03) and IBIZA (01/04).

We will be arriving at Palma de Mallorca on the 2nd of April.

Once again, it all depends on the weather conditions but we should be able to mix a lot of sailing together with enjoying the locations that we find along the way.
