Leg 1 - Mallorca to Gibraltar
LEG 1 - FROM MALLORCA TO Gibraltar 31/10/2020 → 06/11/2020
Departing on the 31st October at 14:00, we will be visiting a different Marina most nights, leaving enough time to have some rest while in each marina, to get ready for the next day of sailing.
When sailing, we will practise chart work and try not to rely on the GPS system onboard, and especially between Ilhas Selvagem and Madeira, we will get used to the sextant and gain confidence for the Ocean Passage.
Leg 2 - Gibraltar to Madeira
LEG 2 – OCEAN PASSAGE FROM GIBRALTAR to MADEIRA 08/11/2020 → 13/11/2020
We will depart Gibraltar on the 8th of November early in the morning, and sail the 600 nm that will take us to Madeira with the use of the sextant.
This passage will include passing the straights of Gibraltar, a great experience to have under your belt. This passage is also a qualifying ocean passage! We will be arriving in Madeira on the evening of the 12th November at the latest.
Leg 3 - Madeira to Las Palmas
LEG 3 - ISLAND HOPPING FROM MADEIRA TO LAS PALMAS 15/11/2020 → 20/11/2020
Departing on the 15th November at 14:00, we will be making a small stopover in the inhabited Salvagem islands, the Portuguese natural reserve only accessible by boat.
With prevailing north easterly winds, this passage will be mostly downwind sailing, which sailors consider to the most relaxing way to sail.
